Over the last couple of years I’ve recorded, tagged and sold my own sound libraries via asoundeffect.com and am always challenging myself to come up with new ideas.
As an editor I always want lots of the one sound. It’s funny listening to film and TV soundtracks and hearing the same sound effects used over and over again across a variety of programs.
It's hard to compete against large companies that create sound libraries as their main source of business. I believe buying libraries from independent sound designers helps keep soundtracks unique and rewards the individuals for their efforts. Without them we would all sound the same.
The audio gear I use for location sound recording includes the ZOOM F8 and two Sennheiser 416’s.
